For those who are new to film photography and looking to get started. In this course, an instructor will guide you through the basics of manual camera function and making images with black & white 35mm film, including ISO, aperture, shutter speed, light metering, focus, and more. This workshop will get you making images that can be sent out for processing or prepare you for your own processing work in the darkroom. Participants must bring their own 35mm SLR camera. All other supplies are provided by EBPCO!

WITH PHILIP KRAYNA AT OAKLAND PHOTO WORKSHOP

Do you have a film camera collecting dust in an attic, inherited from a relative, or recently purchased at a yard sale or on eBay? Bring your cameras and questions to this informal workshop where we will share with others and with EPBCO member and film camera obsessive Philip Krayna (aka “Dr. Philm). Philip will test and assess your camera, if possible help with minor repairs, and explain how to use it, so you can start enjoying the magic of film photography.

WITH JOP BAYLON AT OAKLAND PHOTO WORKSHOP

Learn to control your phone camera settings beyond auto and start capturing stunning images exactly the way you’d like them. In this one day workshop, participants will get to know more about their iPhone camera app, use the Photos app to edit photographs, and learn the basic photographic concepts of exposure, composition, lighting, and subject matter. We’ll even get to print some! Participants must bring their own camera phone and charger. All other materials for this workshop will be provided by EBPCO.

Anthotype is a photographic process that uses the sun along with light sensitive emulsions made from plant matter to create unique prints. In this one-day workshop, participants will learn the basics of this process, using a variety materials to create different anthotype emulsions and their own one-of-a-kind prints with them. This camera-less photography process combines photographic paper and chemistry traditionally used in a darkroom setting with sun light and subject matter found outside. Wet Plate Collodion involves coating a plate with collodion and silver nitrate. While still wet, the plate is exposed in camera and processed directly following exposure.
