Bio
Born in California and raised in the Bay Area, an underlying curiosity that has followed Kat through their life is making sense of what home is. In “Extended Bodies,” Kat invites the viewers to question - how would we move through the world if we considered the earth to be an extension of ourselves?
Kat obtained a photography degree from Hampshire College in 2017, where they focused on the role of family archives, grief, and caretaking in multigenerational family systems. Their work at Hampshire culminated in a multimedia gallery show that wove together images from fifteen-year-old 35mm film Kat had found undeveloped in their mom’s fridge, months after their dad had passed away, alongside projected digitized mini DV tape footage from their childhood, and their own photographic work.
