Bio

My photography has been centered around the Oakland and San Francisco urban environment for the past fifty plus years. Even now, my photographic response to these surroundings is founded in the sharp contrasts I still feel from the years of growing up in the Central Nevada high desert. There, the natural vistas were vast, flora was low to the ground, and fauna was wild and sparse. Here, the vistas lie down narrow streets filled with cars, buildings, and pedestrians. The flora is orchestrated for decoration or privacy or protection. The fauna is multicultural and political. All of this has me pursuing an ongoing photographic project titled “The Flora and Fauna of an American Cityscape”.
